Laura Mercier has done it again! They have released a new range of limited edition products for their line of holiday collections. I had purchased the Sleek & Chic Eye Colour Palette and the Caviar Eye Colour Sticks (which I will reserve for another future post). What a palette! It atones for the many palettes on the market that leans either too cool-toned or warmed-toned. This palette alone caters for all skin types and skin tones. The most versatile palette I have seen be released for the upcoming holidays.
The Laura Mercier Sleek & Chic Eye Colour Palette holds 12 different shadows which varies between an equal amount of warm tones and cool tones. Each shadow contains 1g 0.03oz of product for $75 AUD available at David Jones and Adore Beauty (online). There is a variation of light, intermediate and dark shades allowing you to create either a daytime or nighttime look. Now what’s special about this palette is that there are limited edition shades included in this palette and cannot be found in any other palette or single shadows. There is also a sizeable mirror which I find a must in every palette I buy. If it’s not included, I feel as though something is missing.
There is a flip-magnetic closure at the front that exposes the products and the mirror inside. It has a slightly hard cushion-like cover that has yellow/brown leopard-like prints all over it. Personally, I do not trust magnetically closed palettes for travel. But it is quite sturdy on its own. I’ve actually dropped it once and everything was still intact! I wish the design was a little minimalistic or something that is closer to their signature theme but it doesn’t affect the quality of the shadows which was what I was most impressed about.
These are just one smooth swatch of each of the shadows and as you can see, it is incredibly pigmented, especially the more metallic shades such as bronze glow and cherrywood! My favourite shade from the palette has definitely be african violet – because I’m a big duochrome junkie! It is a purple shade with slightly gold undertones to it.
This year’s palette is more wearable than last year’s palette in my opinion and the shades are more suited to a wider range of people. The formula in these shadows perform incredibly well on my normal/combination skin. The shadows are extremely smooth, consistent, pigmented and are very blendable. And another great thing about this palette is that it is very buildable making it perfect for all skill levels. There is no fallout when using these shadows and comparatively longer-lasting up to 6-9 hours of wear with no fading or creasing! How can you say no to quality?
Again, Laura Mercier does not disappoint! If you want to give Laura Mercier a try, this palette is a great start to get to know the brand, as well as their tinted moisturisers, caviar colour sticks, translucent setting powders as well as their notorious primers!
