Makeup Of The Day: Episode 2

Drugstore MOTD

Some of the best looks doesn’t always come from using high end products. There are some drugstore products out there that can easily compete with the brands. In today’s look, I wanted to just use affordable drugstore products that you can use everyday. Disclaimer, not all of these products will suit your taste or needs, but they work for me. But if you’re still interested to read a little about these products, continue on!

Item 1: L’oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

This item has had a lot of mixed reviews. They either hate it with a heavy passion or they love it to bits! So this mascara will depend on what look you like on your lashes. I use it quite often for a casual everyday look. It provides thickness and volume to my lashes and makes my lashes more visible and noticeable, which I like. It has a nice formula that is easy to work with but can get clumpy very fast if you stack on too many coats. I normally only apply 1-2 coats on my lashes for a casual look, so it doesn’t clump often on me. Once it sets, it does not transfer or smear onto my lids and it stays in place for a good 6-8 hours. It makes your eyes look wider and more open, especially great for people with small eyes like me. This mascara is definitely a favourite after you know how to use it to your preference.

Item 2: Chi Chi Cosmetics Glamorous Eyeshadow Palette in Mochas

The packaging on this palette looks cheap and low quality but believe me, it is not. The shadows are surprisingly buttery, blendable and easy to work with brush or fingers. There are a number of palettes that Chi Chi Cosmetics has available but Mochas is definitely my number one. It just has all my favourites shades that I always work with on a daily basis. It has an incredible range of warm/cool tones of both shimmers and matte finishes. This palette often goes on sale and comes down to $12 at the cheapest! Such a bargain for a great palette! It can be found in Target or at Myers. So ladies, don’t judge a book by its cover and go check this palette out!

Item 3: L’oreal Paris Genius Brow Kit

I got sent this through from a Priceline Beauty Click Package last week. I am showing you this product for just the powder. I absolutely hate the wax. You will not get any product out as it is too dry to work with and the colour is just too light for it to make a difference to your brows. However, the powder in this compact is something to use. It is a grey-toned brown that suits browny-black haired people like me. It is not too pigmented so it would be perfect for beginners to understand how powders would soften the looks of your brows. It is disappointing that the wax was a complete miss – but it’s not a total lost cause.

Item 4: Thin Lizzy Concealer Creme in Pacific Sun

This concealer surprised me the most. I had never known a drugstore concealer to be so flawless. This special beeswax formulation is waterproof, long-lasting and does not crease! It is smooth, creamy and not drying! This concealer is incredibly buildable and has such high coverage. There is a limited colour range, but rumour has it that new shades will be released soon! This little tube contains 15mL of product and I have been using it for a week and have not made a dent it in. But don’t take my word for it, go try it at your local Priceline store!

Item 5: Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner

I have made a review about this liner before, click here if you want a full indepth review. This liner is an oldie but a goodie. I have been using this liner for many years and it was one of the first liners I had used as well. It is very easy to use, great calligraphy tip for flexibility and precision and it has a great formula. It is absolutely one of the best drugstore liquid liners I have used. It does dry out quite easily, but the amount of product fed through the tip is just perfect. Most liquid liners feed too much product and it just ruins your overall look if you make a mistake. Definitely a must-have in my makeup bag. I actually have one in every bag and a few backups. Haha!

I hoped you liked this post!

Til next time, lovelies!
